For most car security systems programming in a new remote is possible. You need at least one working remote, to disable the device, and the alarm code to access programming mode.
Some alarms have a dedicated valet switch allowing access to the program mode. Here a two button switch makes entering a code quicker and easier by having one button to select the digit and the other to press between one and ten times.
However on the vast majority of security systems, you need to turn the ignition on and off to enter the device code. For Autowatch car alarms the programming code is your unique 5-digit code.
Begin by disabling the alarm with the remote and switching the ignition on. Turn the ignition off and wait for the immobiliser to arm, indicated by the status LED flashing.
Assuming your code is 12345 then:
To enter the 'One' digit:
Switch off the ignition and the LED will start to flash. Switch ignition on after the LED has flashed once - you have now entered a '1'.
To enter the 'Two' digit:
Switch off the ignition and the LED will start to flash. Switch on the ignition after the LED has flashed twice - you have now entered '1,2'.
To enter the 'Three' digit:
Switch off the ignition and the LED will start to flash. Switch on the ignition after the LED has flashed three times - you have now entered '1,2,3'.
To enter the 'Four' digit:
Switch off the ignition and the LED will start to flash. Switch on the ignition after the LED has flashed four times - you have now entered '1,2,3,4'.
To enter the 'Five' digit:
Switch off the ignition and the LED will start to flash. Switch on the ignition after the LED has flashed five times - you have now entered '1,2,3,4,5' You have now entered your code.
(Now you are in programming mode. To access the add a new remote menu you need to further enter '1,1' - this is time sensitive and needs to be done immediately after your unique code).
To enter the 'One' digit:
Switch off the ignition and the LED will start to flash. Switch ignition on after the LED has flashed once - you have now entered a '1'.
To enter the 'One' digit:
Switch off the ignition and the LED will start to flash. Switch ignition on after the LED has flashed once - you have now entered a '1'.
(now the LED will repeatedly flash for two seconds and in this time the arm button on the new remote must be pressed. The siren of the alarm will give a single beep to indicate success).
This whole process is a bit finicky, and often takes a bit of practise. If you don't get it right first time, simply start again.
Please note: to enter a zero ten flashes need to take place.
For Autowatch car alarms a further two minutes of inactivity will log you out of programming mode and leave you at the start.
The Autowatch 695 2:1 upgrade alarm system uses the original car or van remotes. However, the remote shown here can be added if necessary. For this an additional first step is needed:
Turn ignition on and off 5 times with the last position being back on again. Now the LED will be solid blue and the procedure above can be carried out.
